JAVED ZAHEER---FOUNDER OF SHIR INTERNATIONAL NETWORK:
A MISSION WITH A VISION TO SERVE HUMANITY IN REALITY
THINK & ACT WISELY, ONLY PEOPLE
     CAN HELP BRING REAL CHANGE
BY JAVED ZAHEER, FREEEXPRESSION AWARD WINNER,
TORONTO: Nothing is free. Not even the attention, love and blessings of God. Everything requires something in return in various shapes and forms to deserve and earn it.
Most people desire love, closeness and blessings of God and a place in heaven and consider them free and their birth right but do not realize that all these are not free and were never free at all. They require true worship of God, goodness and service to humanity in reality. Not everybody but only those who truly work hard deserve and earn them.
Most people do not truly rely but demand from God and keep wishing, dreaming, working and praying throughout their lives for their vested interests and become unhappy, dejected and disappointed if their contributions and prayers are not accepted and demands not met. They start blaming God and hold Him responsible for their sufferings and failures.
If they start thinking and understanding as to why God is not accepting their prayers and contributions and showering His blessings as THEY desire or demand then they would start realizing their wrongs, mistakes and faults including cunningness, selfishness and greediness and begin reforming themselves to earn the acceptance of prayers, love and blessings of God.
In the holy Quran, see what God says in the following chapters (Surahs) about human beings and how they can become really good:
Surah # 4 An-Nisa. Verses 78-80): Wheresoever ye may be, death will overtake you, even though ye were in lofty towers. Yet if a happy thing befalleth them they say: This is from Allah; and if an evil thing befalleth them they say: This is of thy doing (O Muhammad). Say (unto them): All is from Allah. What is amiss with these people that they come not nigh to understand a happening? (78) Whatever of good befalleth thee (O man) it is from Allah, and whatever of ill befalleth thee it is from thyself. We have sent thee (Muhammad) as a messenger unto mankind and Allah is sufficient as Witness. (79) Whoso obeyeth the messenger hath obeyed Allah, and whoso turneth away: We have not sent thee as a warder over them (80). Translation: Pickthal.
Surah # 103 Al-Asr (Verses 1-3): By the declining day, (1) Lo! Man is a state of loss, (2) Save those who believe and do good works, and exhort one another to truth and exhort one another to endurance. (3)
Surah # 21 Al-Anbiya (Verse 87): And (mention) Dhu'n-Nun, when he went off in anger and deemed that We had no power over him, but he cried out in the darkness, saying: There is no God save Thee. Be Thou glorified! Lo! I have been a wrong-doer. (87) Then we heard his prayer and saved him from the anguish. Thus we save believers. (88)
SURAH # 7 Al-Araf (Verse 23): They said: Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If thou forgive us not and have not mercy on us, surely we are of the lost! (23).
SURAH # 23 Al-Mumenoon (Verses 97-98): And say: My Lord! I seek refuge in Thee from suggestions of the evil ones, (97) And I seek refuge in Thee, my Lord, lest they be present with me, (98).
SURAH # 20 Ta-Ha (Verses 25-28): (Moses) said: My Lord! relieve my mind (25) And ease my task for me; (26) And loose a knot from my tongue, (27) That they may understand my saying. (28)
The reformation process requires one to understand, train and control the wandering mind. The devil keeps playing with us by corrupting and controlling our minds through evil temptations including harmful personal and worldly desires.
The mind is like a wild horse and needs to be tamed and controlled. Focus on the mind is extremely important to tame, train and prepare it to follow OUR positive and constructive ideas, instructions and directions. The mind is like any vehicle whose steering and control should always remain in OUR hands otherwise there could be small, serious and fatal accidents and disasters.
ELECTION/SELECTION: As long as our focus on the mind is right then we will always think right, make and take good decisions, use our votes sensibly to choose and elect true leaders and right parties.
The right focus on the mind will always help and enable us to remain on the track and do good to not only deserve and earn successes and blessings but bring peace and happiness in the homes and lives of all people. Next time when we pray or do anything then make sure the focus is right to make and take good decisions and think and act positively to get good results.
I believe in SHIR (Serve Humanity In Reality) and founded the SHIR International Network. This belief helps me to write what is good for all people, country and humanity. The truth is always bitter and very hard to swallow.
This is what happened with one of the three major political parties of Canada---Conservative, Liberal and NDP. It refused to post on the website of the leader an article I wrote for him, terming it as not in the interest of the party.
How can I support and vote any such party which shamelessly ask people for votes with commitment to serve them but later ignore them and also treats its leaders as remotes and puppets with instructions to serve only the vested interests of the party.
This is why I call such politics a dirty game. I would rather waste my vote instead of giving to such leaders and parties. My conscience and focus on the mind does not allow me to commit such grave mistake as I cannot trust such leaders and parties.
When the glaring mistakes of the parties and leaders are pointed out, it is again shamelessly said: “Forget whatever had happened. Think about now and the future. Elect us for
a real change.”
This is what is usually said but in reality not done. People keep wishing and dreaming about the real change and the parties and leaders keep preying on them and playing with them.
Because of this behaviour, attitude and character, the parties and leaders fail to win trust and confidence of the people.
The people very well understand that they are being fooled, exploited, cheated and harmed because of the wrong policies and dirty politics. They openly talk about it and curse and condemn all the bad parties, leaders and policies. They know that most of the political parties and leaders are all hands in gloves. On the stage they look different and innocent to fool the people but behind the curtain they are all one. They believe in and promote hypocrisy in the name of democracy.
Harmful bills are being made and passed as policies and laws not only against the wishes of the Canadian people but the Canadian Charter of Rights as well. The Canadian Charter of Rights is being mercilessly flouted and made a joke. People understand very well that not the good and true Canadians but only enemies of the people and the country dare to think of harming Canada and Canadians.
If not understood and stopped timely then get prepared for the worst, both now and in the future. My Dear Loving & Caring Canadians, recognize, expose and stop the enemies of the people and the country before it is too late. Already much harm has been done. Disappointment is widespread, concern is great and anger of people is at its peak. They are extremely worried and thinking and saying: “What the heck is happening?”
Naheed Hassan (613-667-3172) of One Canada (http://www.one-canada.org), a new Canadian and a Pakistani & Muslim community leader, called me and said:
       “Dear Javed Zaheer,
“It was great talking to you on the phone and I do hope we can get this message out to a wider audience. It is of critical importance that our community understand this threat and use their voting power to support the right party and candidates who will repeal Bill C-24 and give our rights back to us.             Syed Muhammad Iqbal, President of Pak Seniors Forum (PSF), a responsible and influential Canadian citizen and a distinguished member of the Pakistani and Muslim community, supported me as follows:
“Dear Javed Zaheer: You are the lone crusader trying to put things in the right order in a world of astray and so called and self-styled intellectuals, who work for their nefarious designs. They usher as reformers, saviors and develop cult to misguide and try to exploit the innocent people by an easy tool of vote and when finally the damage is done they wane and finally disappear for a four or five years term. Everywhere they keep on exploiting the masses with dreams of acquiring all the heavenly goods and when they wake up they realize it was a nightmare. This never ending scheme would continue, if the right people do not take up the right job. May God bless you with his enormous bounties and energy to implement your plans what you have conceived through your think tank and your valiant comrades. Be blessed.
Distinguished community leaders like Syed Muhammad Iqbal, President of PSF (goodjudgementiqbal@yahoo.ca), Shahid Hashmi, Chairman of Canpak Chamber of Commerce (shahid@hashmiassociates.com), Muhammad Hameeduddin, Publisher & Editor of AWAZ,   (ewhor@hotmail.com), Afzal Khan Nayyar (afzalkhan2003@gmail.com), like and love to help and support and live and work with all people and welcome them, particularly like-minded ones.
As founder of SHIR International Network, it is my spiritual duty and part of my SHIR mission and vision to keep offering special prayers for all people and Canada. May God protect them from all evils, enemies, hypocrites and demoncrats.  The SHIR Spirituality Team will always remain active for this.

10 REASONS WHY NATURALIZED CITIZENS AND SECOND GENERATION CANADIANS SHOULD BE WORRIED ABOUT BILL C-24

Dear Javed Sahab,
It was great talking to you on the phone and I do hope we can get this message out to a wider audience. 10 Reasons why Naturalized Citizens and Second Generation Canadians should be worried about Bill C-24

Bill C-24, which was voted into law earlier this year, has resulted in widespread changes in the Citizenship Act. These changes are retroactive, and apply not only to naturalized citizens but also to their children, even if the children are Canadian by birth. The amendments have effected a very real targeting of new Canadians, a curtailment of their freedoms and the creation of a second class of citizens who have fewer rights than ‘first-class’ citizens.

As a direct result of Bill C-24, new Canadians are no longer free to move and live outside of Canada, and must declare and demonstrate ‘intent to live’ in Canada or risk having their citizenship revoked, while other citizens have no such restrictions placed on their movements.

First-class Canadians cannot have their citizenship revoked under any circumstances, but naturalized citizens, including their Canadian born children and grandchildren can – for a range of offences listed in Bill C-24 that are open to very loose interpretation. Additionally, the life-changing decision to revoke a person’s citizenship can now be taken by a single immigration official, with no recourse to the judicial system.

The amendments the Bill has put forward have been presented as safeguarding Canada from terrorism. However, on a closer read it is apparent that it severely curtails the rights and liberties of the average law-abiding citizen. There is clear targeting of new Canadians and their descendants, who have been reduced to second-class citizens with fewer freedoms, rights and privileges than ‘old’ Canadians.

Most immigrants come to Canada to build a better future for themselves, and more importantly, for their children. However, if the rights of new Canadians have already been limited through Bill C-24 and they and their children are under threat of losing their citizenship for any wrong step they take knowingly or unknowingly, then this is not really the better and brighter future that immigrants to Canada hoped for.

Read the article below to understand in more detail why you should be worried about Bill C-24, and what you can do about it.

Changes to the Citizenship Act and Why You Should Be Worried (WYSBW)

1.      An immigrant must now declare ‘intent to reside’ in Canada in order to be granted Canadian citizenship.

WYSBW: Once you have declared your intent to reside in Canada, if you take up an international assignment or need to return to your homeland, you can be accused of obtaining your citizenship by misrepresentation and can have your citizenship revoked.

2.      The only accepted criteria for a new Canadian to live and work abroad are if he/she is employed by the Government, either Federal or provincial, or by the Canadian Armed Forces. Alternatively a new Canadian can accompany a spouse employed by these agencies. A new Canadian cannot live and work abroad otherwise.

WYSBW: The Canadian Charter of Rights gives all citizens the complete freedom of movement. This clause directly curtails the freedoms and liberties of all naturalized Canadians (and their children after them) and creates two levels of citizens – those free to travel and live where they wish, and those that cannot travel or live outside Canada without risk.

These second-class citizens will forever be confined within the boundaries of Canada, unable to study, work or live abroad without questions about their commitment to Canada and the threat of revocation of their citizenship.

3.      The Citizenship Act states that citizenship can be revoked for a person who gave false representation at the time of obtaining citizenship.

WYSBW: This clause, when combined with the new clause introduced by Bill C-24, the declaration of ‘intent to reside in Canada’, a citizen who leaves Canada for whatever reason, can be accused of misrepresentation at the time of obtaining citizenship and can have their citizenship revoked. On the other hand, ‘first-class’ citizens have no such restrictions placed upon them and cannot have their citizenship revoked, even if they spend their entire lives abroad.

4.      A Canadian citizen can now be stripped of citizenship if convicted of criminal activity inside or outside of Canada.

WYSBW: Firstly, most if not all New Canadians condemn any acts of terrorism or criminal activity. However, creating different standards of conduct, and punishment, for New and Old Canadians serves only to divide society, and diminishes the authenticity and value of Canadian Citizenship for New Canadians.

Please note that this clause only applies to new Canadians. ‘Old’ Canadians cannot be stripped of their citizenship no matter what crime they commit. Across the world, punishing criminals is the domain of the criminal justice system, not that of immigration ministry. Finally, the wording of this clause is vague and is open to an extremely broad interpretation of what passes as criminal activity. Because the terminology is so vague, there are chances of misuse and manipulation, which is heightened by the fact that there is no longer any judicial recourse or oversight.

5.      To avoid violating international law on the reduction of statelessness, the only Canadian citizens who are at risk of having their citizenship stripped are those carrying dual citizenship or those eligible to claim dual citizenship.

WYSBW: This clause deliberately targets new Canadians, creating a two-tiered set of citizens in Canada – ‘old’ Canadians whose citizenship cannot be revoked lest they become stateless and naturalized citizens whose citizenship can be stripped because they hold or can claim citizenship of another country.

This clause also opens naturalized citizens to further discrimination based on ethnicity and national origin. The naturalized citizen whose country of origin does not allow for dual citizenship are safe because their citizenship cannot be revoked. Citizens hailing from countries that do acknowledge dual citizenship are penalized and are at risk.

6.      Citizenship can be stripped from a citizen who can claim citizenship of another country through birth, parents, marriage or any other association.

WYSBW: A Canadian citizen who has renounced their previous citizenship and can still be stripped of citizenship if the immigration official feels they are eligible to claim citizenship from another country. This means that even if you have renounced that nationality, you can be stripped of your Canadian citizenship since you are eligible for another nationality, if an immigration official determines that your country of origin still recognizes your claim to citizenship.

Similarly if your spouse or your future generations can claim citizenship of a different nation through marriage or descent, they too can be stripped of their citizenship regardless of whether they are even aware of the fact that they have a claim to dual citizenship.

7.      Being born in Canada, or being born to a Canadian citizen, does not preclude a person from having their citizenship revoked. A citizen who is eligible for dual nationality through marriage to, or descent from a naturalized citizen can have their nationality revoked.

WYSBW: Bill C-24 has redefined the entire concept of citizenship by removing the right to citizenship based on birth for the children of naturalized citizens. Your children, even if they were born Canadians, can have their citizenship revoked if they can claim eligibility for another nationality through you.

If you as a naturalized citizen came to Canada for a better future for your children and future generations – think again. Your descendants will still face the same limitations and restrictions as you do, simply because they are descendants of an immigrant.

8.      The assessment and enforcement of citizenship revocation has been moved into the hands and discretion of an immigration official – not via judicial inquiry or process.

WYSBW: The entire process of granting and revoking citizenship will be conducted by immigration officials rather than an impartial, qualified, independent judiciary. Once again, the broad terminology and unclear processes established under Bill C-24 for granting and revoking citizenship are liable to grave misuse and abuse. There is no appeal process and the decision made by a single official is final and binding.

9.      A citizen whose citizenship has been revoked has no recourse to a judicial hearing. In some cases of serious crime, the Minister may call for a hearing.

WYSBW: Bill C-24 does away with the process of a court of appeal and hearing for citizens whose citizenship has been revoked. Only serious criminals have the right to a hearing – the average citizen has no such recourse.

10.  Bill C-24 is retroactive.

WYSBW: This means that even if your citizenship was granted years ago, the provisions of this law apply to you.

We think Bill C-24 is unfair, discriminatory and divisive, and is against the principles of equality, diversity, multiculturalism and inclusiveness that defined Canada.

Bill C-24 has already been passed into law, but you can still do something.

Elections are coming up and as New Canadians there has never been a better time to rise up and show our political strength, to add our voices to a unified, fair and progressive Canada.

We need to unite to support candidates and parties that understand the concerns that this bill raises. You could, as an example, consider voting for parties that have publicly stated their opposition to the bill, and have committed to repealing Bill C-24, should they come to power. We also need to have the unity and strength to ensure follow-through on these election promises, ensuring that the bill is repealed within a 100 days of the new government coming to power.

What You Can Do

We have started a ONE-CANADA campaign to unite during and after the elections and work towards repealing Bill C-24. Join us by visiting our website at www.one-canada.org and do the following:

1.      Sign the petition asking all four PM candidates to repeal Bill C-24 within 100 days of taking offices, and introduce an amended bill that safeguards Canada but not at the expense of the rights and civil liberties of New Canadians.
2.      Ask all candidates running from your constituency about their stance on Bill C-24. Research their previous voting history. Is this the person you trust to help create an inclusive, diverse and fair Canada?
3.      Use our automatic mailer to let your friends know about Bill C-24 and what they can do to help amend this divisive piece of legislation.
4.      Talk to at least 5 people about why you and they should be concerned about Bill C-24 in its present form. Ask to speak to present in your family, and also at your temples, churches, synagogues, mosques, gurduwaras, jamaat-khanaas, community centers or libraries.
5.      Finally, if you haven’t done so yet, please join our mailing list.

JAVED ZAHEER---FOUNDER OF SHIR INTERNATIONAL NETWORK:
A MISSION WITH A VISION TO SERVE HUMANITY IN REALITY
SHIR INTERNATIONAL NETWORK:
A MISSION WITH A VISION TO SERVE
HUMANITY, BRING  PEACE & HAPPINESS
BY JAVED ZAHEER, FREEEXPRESSION AWARD WINNER,
TORONTO: Because of the devil, evil temptations, distractions, distortions, crises, calamities, cruelties, conspiracies, exploitation, discrimination, racism and terrorism will never end in the world but keep increasing and people will keep suffering and facing tough challenges, difficulties, miseries, deaths and destruction.
Our duty and responsibility as normal, responsible and good human beings is to prepare ourselves and all others for a mission with a vision to create proper awareness and understanding to help, support, serve and save humanity and ensure peace and happiness in reality.
I am over 62 now and in my personal and over 45 years of professional activities I admit that I faltered a lot and committed many mistakes and sins but at the same time I always tried to remain positive, constructive and supportive to help others. I might have but I always tried to never harm or hurt anyone intentionally.
Few years back, when I got the inspiration and guidance from the divine messages in holy book Quran, which are also common in the original holy books Bible, Torah and scrolls of the same God, I came to know the main purpose of my life---Serve Humanity In Reality---and decided to continue whatever little good I was thinking or doing as my mission and vision. This is what made me choose the motto: Serve Humanity In Reality (SHIR).
What was till now my purpose and motto (SHIR), I am giving my efforts, struggle, dream, mission and vision a shape of a platform---SHIR International Network.  All like-minded persons, whether known or unknown, and in any part of the world with the same mindset, dream, mission and vision or thinking and doing any good in any way are welcome to join my SHIR Team. The SHIR Team leaders may belong to any religion, caste, creed, community, country, group, field and profession but their aim will only be to work for the common noble cause: Serve Humanity In Reality. That is the beauty of SHIR. It will help unite all by ending differences and divisions and promoting love and respect.
Whether one likes it or not or wants it or not but SHIR Team will act like a magnet to attract and unite all like-minded persons on a common platform with a common cause. Why it is extremely important to support and promote the SHIR Team? Because it is our duty and responsibility to serve, protect and save humanity in reality.
Wherever they are, they can start playing their role and proudly claim and introduce themselves as SHIR Team Leaders. My job is to share this precious gift or divine blessing of God with all so that all can benefit greatly. In fact it was and is the job of all since the creation of mankind. The need is to keep doing it and keep reminding others to do it. It’s a never ending task, struggle and mission. It’s expiry date is death day or doomsday.
Since I consider my idea and motto SHIR as a divine blessing therefore I am founding the SHIR International Network in Toronto, Canada, and am fully confident that whether I remain or not maximum number of people would join, support and promote the SHIR Team in all possible ways and at all times to make and maintain it as a powerful platform from where all people would be served and humanity saved in reality.
Only the will and commitment of the person to become part of SHIR Team is needed. Becoming SHIR Team Leader will be based on belief, trust and confidence in each other and the purpose, mission and vision. Then only the purpose and mission could be accomplished successfully. It is the cause which is most important.
The objective of SHIR International Network is to serve and save humanity in reality in all possible ways, by all possible means and in all parts of the world. It begins right from the SHIR Team Leader’s life, home and family and extends to including relatives, companions, friends, community and society.
Since the focus is on humanity therefore the SHIR Team will have no borders and boundaries. It will help like-minded people to understand, like, love, respect and support each other and unite and commit to live and work together, serve all and bring peace and happiness. It will teach and help us to become and remain really normal, responsible and good human beings and true leaders.
Evil temptations and dark angels are the biggest hurdles in attempts to serve humanity in reality. They keep targeting the focus on the cause to loosen the control and cause distraction. Despite this, I am struggling very hard and always trying to be good but am sure that SHIR International Network Team would produce really great people and leaders to help make this world wonderful, beautiful and a safe place for all in reality.
Only the mindset, wish, will, consent and commitment are needed to become SHIR Team Leaders.  Nobody will come to our help and support unless we decide to help and support ourselves, our near and dear ones and then all. Conspirators, exploiters, hypocrites and such like-minded elements will try to infiltrate, hijack and sabotage SHIR International Network. We have to remain fully alert. Canada and Canadians deserve appreciation and special thanks for the tremendous help, support, encouragement, environment, freedom and facilities provided. Without this, SHIR International Network would have remained only a dream.

KHALID AHMED: A PROMISING CANADIAN
LEADER IN MAKING, SAYS WILL SERVE
BY JAVED ZAHEER, FREE EXPRESSION AWARD WINNER
TORONTO:  Ask people who know Khalid Ahmed, NDP candidate for Don Valley East, and they all will say: “He belongs to a good and respectable family, is a young, intelligent, educated, ambitious, brave, bold, disciplined, honest, responsible, respectable, helpful, supportive, a dynamic and promising Canadian leader in making of the South Asian and Muslim communities.”
No doubt Khalid Ahmed is a good human being and has a very good nature and character with combination of the above excellent qualities. His family, friends, community, Canada and Canadians have all helped, supported and groomed him to practically become like that, live and work together, respect people of all communities equally and serve them honestly.
Since he entered politics, I remained a bit concerned that he might be spoiled because most of the political parties tie the hands, zip the mouth, make their leaders and workers robot, puppet and cunning and compel them to play dirty politics and focus only on vested interests. This is why both the people and country suffer.
Except that he is quite young and inexperienced, till now I have not noticed bad change in him. NDP is lucky to have a leader like him and should be proud of him because he is capable of playing important roles and performing the duties and responsibilities properly.
I hope he retains and maintains all the good qualities, relations with people and meet their expectations otherwise his image will be tarnished and he might lose help, support, respect, trust and confidence of the people.
Proper understanding of the God’s message in the below Surah Al-Asr of the Holy Quran (# 103) will help him to remain good, steadfast, retain and maintain and emerge successful and victorious: “By the declining day, (1) Lo! Man is a state of loss, (2) Save those who believe and do good works, and exhort one another to truth and exhort one another to endurance. (3).”
Khalid Ahmed, a proud young breed of the South Asian and Muslim communities, belongs to the middle class and knows this class very well including people, needs, issues, problems and priorities. Visit www.khalidahmed.ndp.ca.  The increasing popularity of Tom Mulcair and NDP’s chances of forming government are increasing his confidence.
Shining son of Hameeduddin Ahmed, a Canadian of Indian origin (Not Red Indian) and a reputed journalist of the community, Khalid Ahmed saw how his family struggled hard to adjust themselves and settle respectfully in Canada, get proper recognition and then join the mainstream to serve all in the best possible ways.
Khalid Ahmed is a fruit of all the efforts made by family, Canada and Canadians. He joined politics with a purpose: To Serve Humanity In Reality (SHIR). He is a proud member of the SHIR Team and wants to make Canada and Toronto stronger by making the middle class stronger.
When Khalid Ahmed came to meet me, I asked him several questions including how he plans to work and practically bring peace and happiness in the homes and lives of the people and why he chose the platform of NDP.
Khalid Ahmed explained: “Growing up in a middle class family of nine (9) (the youngest of 7 children). I know the difficulties of making ends meet to raise a family. When my father first immigrated to Canada, like many immigrants he worked two jobs while attending school to make ends meet.
“I have always been very interested in politics and wanted change but not change just for the sake of it; I wanted the change that puts people first. When I first decided to join a political party I did a lot of research about our parties, what they stand for and their agenda. After months of research I found out that the NDP is the only political party that is working for positive change and puts people first.
“My ideology of having a fairer society, affordable childcare, better healthcare, secured retirement, creating jobs for middle class families, and protecting the environment matches with the NDP party and the agenda. I believe Tom Mulcair as Canada’s first NDP prime minister and I as the next MP for Don Valley East will bring change to Ottawa and focus on Canadian’s priorities.
“Why I decided to run? I have always been a strong leader and voiced my opinion; I always wanted to serve Canadians and the community. I am dedicated to serving the community regardless of what I am doing even if it’s through my education as a Social Service Worker and advocating for seniors, from my practicum at John Howard Society supporting adults who have been in the conflict with the law, or being passionate about youth issues and serving on Seneca College’s continuing education advisory board, working to improve student life on campus. “
Khalid said: “I lived in the Don Valley West (Don Mills and Overlea area) for almost two decades and now it’s time I bring positive change for the people of Don Valley East, even if it’s just making affordable childcare because in the GTA we have the least affordable childcare in the country, or increasing the minimum wage to $15 because the cost of living increased significantly but the national minimum wage has not increased significantly. I also vow to protect our security and our rights by repealing bill C-51 because we do not have to pick between freedom and security.”
He said: “As the next MP for Don Valley East, I will commit to promoting outreach to local business, religious and non-religious organization, and schools in order to hear their concerns. Also, my office will be conveniently located to assist the concerns regarding any issue people are facing in the community (fairer society, immigration and citizenship, taxes and anything me and my team can help with).”
Khalid Ahmed said: "I believe in NDP leader Tom Mulcair, who has promised an NDP government, which would boost the guaranteed income supplement to help Canada's most vulnerable seniors. He considers it an important first step to lifting 200,000 seniors out of poverty."
Although Khalid Ahmed keeps meeting people regularly, he launched his election campaign on August 29, 2015. His office is located at 15 Gervais Drive, Suite 310, Toronto, Ontario, M3C 1Y8 Phone:  647 938 9063. khalid.ahmed@ndp.ca.
Leaders and supporters of NDP say: “As our next MP, Khalid’s priorities start with showing greater respect for seniors by strengthening pensions, restoring the retirement age to 65 and providing better long-term care and home care.
“Khalid is passionate about youth issues as well. He has served on Seneca College’s continuing education advisory board, working to improve student life on campus. He is pursuing a degree in Social Work and recently completed a practicum with John Howard Society of Toronto, supporting adults who have been in conflict with the law.
“A proud resident of Thorncliffe Park, Khalid knows and loves this community. The youngest of seven children, he has lived in the Don Mills area since the early 1990s.  His family immigrated to Canada in the mid-1970s and lived near Victoria Park at Lawrence.”
Khalid Ahmed enjoys the respect, support, trust and confidence of members and leaders of all communities including distinguished personalities. Shahid Hashmi, Chairman, Canpak Chamber of Commerce, does not agree with NDP policies and leadership but keep encouraging Khalid Ahmed because of his good qualities and character.
Khalid says: “I am seniors advocate with Pak Seniors Forum (PSF), a local non-profit organization, headed by Syed Muhammad Iqbal, President of Pak Seniors Forum (PSF), engaging local residents in dialogue on pensions and healthcare.” Syed Muhammad Iqbal was impressed by Khalid and NDP leader Tom Mulcair and is supporting both now.
Khalid had twice contested (2011 & 2014) for MPP in the Don Valley West locality of Toronto against Kathleen Wynne, a popular and powerful Liberal leader and now Premier of Ontario, Seeing his vision, spirit, determination, remarkable performance and the tremendous support of people enjoyed, NDP has elevated his candidature to MP.
When Khalid Ahmed came to meet me and was leaving, I just told him plainly: “Forget everything and relations and just remember that I am and all SHIR Team members are interested only in seeing how you and the NDP leaders perform and contribute to bring peace and happiness in the lives and homes of people. I want to see you as David facing, fighting and defeating all Goliaths. For this you have to prove your honesty and loyalty to the people, only through which not only you but the party as well will earn respect and recognition.”
Young leaders like Khalid Ahmed and others are source of inspiration and motivation for all communities. They must always be encouraged to engage in positive and constructive activities and live and work together with all communities.
The South Asian and Muslim communities need them and are proud to have members like them and hope that they will never disappoint them and always keep making them proud by serving all communities and humanity in reality.

JZ'S ARTICLE: LIBERAL LEADER PROMISES REAL CHANGE, WANTS IMMIGRATION FOR SIBLINGS

LIBERAL LEADER PROMISES REAL CHANGE,
     WANTS IMMIGRATION FOR SIBLINGS
BY JAVED ZAHEER, FREE EXPRESSION AWARD WINNER
TORONTO:  Wonder why people don’t go out to vote? The reason is simple and logical: Their votes are wasted because wrong people are elected, who pose as very good and responsible, commit and promise but fail to come up to expectations and serve people in reality. People feel being fooled, exploited, cheated and trapped and see that only vested interests of parties are served and promoted. Seeing this, people lose trust and confidence in leaders, parties and their workers, are badly disappointed and prefer remaining at home to avoid wasting their precious votes.
In order to win trust and confidence and votes, the leaders and parties must prove their honesty and sincerity and loyalty to people. They must respect the wishes, values, rights and freedom of people.
Wrong people and parties are the real enemies of democracy and promoters of demoncracy. This is why the people and country suffer. So keep watching the character and contributions of all---parties, leaders, workers, volunteers and supporters. Remain alert against hypocrites and exploiters in the community. They are the real enemies and only cause tremendous harms. Don’t ever entertain, support and promote them.
I keep watching the happenings and giving clear messages to all including people, leaders and parties. At the same time, I keep listening to people and leaders as well in order to build bridges and help restore trust and confidence through proper understanding and awareness.
Both Liberals and Conservatives are facing tough times and challenges because some of their policies are considered controversial and harmful by the people. NDP is in a position and trying to take full advantage by proving as a healer of wounds and promising to deliver.
Don Valley West is considered and reputed as one of the most important localities for elections and remained stronghold of the Liberal Party. Currently, John Carmichael of Conservative Party is the current Member of Parliament. In the coming federal elections in October, 2015, John Carmichael (www.johncarmichael.ca) is trying hard and hopeful to get re-elected.
Rob Oliphant, ex-Liberal MP of Don Valley West (www.roboliphant.ca), is doing his best to make a comeback and is confident of becoming Member of Parliament.
Also, Syeda Riaz is candidate of NDP and is hopeful of giving tough time to both and becoming MP. Syeda is daughter of Tasleem Riaz, who was very close to Jack Layton and a reputed community leader. She is a dynamic young girl and contesting for the first time (SyedaRiaz.ndp.ca).
ROB OLIPHANT; Rob Oliphant of Liberal contacted me and said: “Javed: I hope that we can sit down and you can see in me some of the qualities that you are wanting in a good leader. It is what I try to be – as a Christian, of course, but still think that we have way more in common than not in common.”
Rob Oliphant then invited me at his campaign office, where we including Syed Muhammad Iqbal, President of Pak Seniors Forum, and Mazhar Shafiq were present. In the hours-long frank discussion, Rob Oliphant said: “We will bring real change in Don Valley West. Two important major changes will be in economy and immigration. We believe in fairness and that’s why we always aimed for fair economy. People making $25,000 to 30,000 are struggling hard. The major economy policy changes include improved and effective income tax. Also, we have to find ways for more jobs in Thorncliffe Park Drive locality. We must help people find employment and give them satisfaction because they are Canadians and should not remain outside the mainstream.
Rob Oliphant said; “People must understand that the municipal, provincial and federal level leaders, roles and policies are not same and have different impacts. They should not be mixed. I am a federal candidate and have always remained close to the people of my locality, listened to them and served them in reality. I know my people well and they understand me’’
IMMIGRATION: Rob Oliphant said: “Most of the people contacted in Don Valley West, particularly in 85 building, were facing immigration issues including long delays in getting citizenship.”
Rob said: “Grandparents and siblings are an important part of the family. Siblings will prove a great helping hand and that’s why we plan to allow sibling immigration. We fully understand the need to bring and join people who need and love each other.”
Rob Oliphant said: “In my election campaign, there are Christians, Muslims, Jews and others. I work comfortably with all because we are all Canadians. I have no problem with Muslim woman wearing Hijab because I understand that what is on the head is not in the head. I respect them. Canada is a very diverse country and Canadians believe in diversity. Canada and Canadians are reputed for generosity. The Conservatives don’t like Muslims and Harper is creating two classes of citizens and does not like diversity,”
SEX EDUCATION:  Rob Oliphant said: “People must understand that sex education is a provincial issue. I have nothing to do with this issue. It is indeed a complex issue. Those who disagree with a part of it can opt out. Most of those who are opposing sex education are politicizing the issue, not telling the truth and using this issue for their vested interests including to make sure that Rob Oliphant is defeated. The important thing is that children need to learn and that’s why we have to teach children. The parents opposing this issue must find a way to teach their children in their own interests.”
Mazhar Shafiq, who was also part of the meeting, said: “Please see below. Opt out option still available. Forward it to all the concerned parents as lot of misinformation is being spread and it is all politically motivated due to Federal election this year. Few people are taking advantage of innocent people who are not aware about the whole thing”:

EQUALIZATION: When Syed Muhammad Iqbal, President of PSF, raised the important question of maintaining equalization standard, Rob Oliphant said: “There are many ways we can recognize people. We are all Canadians and deserve to be treated equally. Professionals qualify to migrate to Canada. They only need help for settlement. Policy changes are needed to recognize them and allow them to join their professions and mainstream. They are an asset and Canada will benefit from their services.”
Rob Oliphant, while answering my questions, said: “Javed: It was a great pleasure to meet with you. It is a great privilege to be a Member of Parliament. I enjoyed that privilege from 2008 until 2011 as the M.P. for Don Valley West. I chose to run again this time because I feel that my work as the M.P. for Thorncliffe Park and for the whole of Don Valley West was not finished yet.
“During the time I was M.P. for Don Valley West, I came to know the people of Thorncliffe Park (and at that time Flemingdon Park) very well. I came to know them through their stories and their struggles, through their events and celebrations, and through the work I did with them and for them.
“This work focused largely on immigration and citizenship issues, but it extended beyond that to employment, housing, pension, employment insurance issues, human rights and also community development.
“If elected again, I will serve the community ensuring that people are treated fairly and openly in every process that they engage in with the federal government. I will help them secure Temporary Resident Visas for their family members or for scholars visiting the Mosque, I will ensure timely responses regarding sponsorship of family members to join them in Canada (spouses, children and parents) and I will work to ensure that Canada finds new ways to help newcomers to Canada settle in effectively, find meaningful and better-paid employment and contribute to both the economic and social life of Canada.
“While financial security doesn't guarantee happiness, financial insecurity certainly promotes unhappiness. It also brings about family and personal stress, illness and other social problems. As a Member of Parliament, part of a Justin Trudeau government, we will ensure fairness for both the middle class and those trying to get into the middle class. I am certain that the lives of people in Thorncliffe Park will be better with a Trudeau government.
“Just as the first Trudeau government (that of Pierre Elliott Trudeau) opened Canada up to the world and the world up to Canada and created a more just society, a Justin Trudeau government will ensure that all Canadians and prospective Canadians are treated fairly. That will make a real and tangible difference in the lives of Canadians.
“One of my passions has always been protecting and ensuring minority rights. I was chair of the Yukon Human Rights Commission and it was very important work helping address injustices and discrimination. I am proud to be part of the Liberal Party which not only introduced the Charter of Rights and Freedoms (the work of Pierre Elliott Trudeau) but continues to have it as our cornerstone (under Justin Trudeau). Just as I fought for rights of Muslims while I was in the House of Commons the last time, I will do that again.
“But it is just as important to make sure that people have food on the table and are able to pay their rent. Our new Canada Child Benefit will be of huge value to people with children in Thorncliffe Park. Under our plan, 9 out of every 10 families in Canada (and virtually everyone with children in Thorncliffe) will receive TAX-FREE cheques every month - up to $6400 per child each year. Yes, people earning $200,000 or more won't receive this but that means that we can give more to lower income families. That is what fairness means.
“When I was the Member of Parliament, my Constituency Office was a welcoming place for every resident of Don Valley West. We helped long-time citizens with their problems and cared equally for newcomers who had just arrived and were only dreaming of citizenship. In the last four years, it has become more difficult to come to Canada, more difficult to find work, more difficult to become a citizen and more difficult to pay the rent. Canada is better than that. I will work to ensure that no one is left behind.
“A Canadian citizen is a Canadian citizen. The Conservative government promotes two-levels of citizenship. This is not acceptable. Of course, if someone commits a crime they should be punished. But they should not lose their citizenship just because they chose Canada rather than having been born here. Canada is better than that. Again, I will work to ensure no one is left behind.
“My faith is important to me. As a Christian Minister I have served my faith community for over 30 years. But I have also served other faith communities and value people of all religions equally. I have learned great lessons from my Muslim brothers and sisters about charity, peace, spiritual discipline, friendship and the importance of family. It has been a wonderful benefit to me to come to know Muslims not only as constituents but as friends, colleagues and companions. I will stand with the Muslim community in the future just as I have in the past reminding everyone that a Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian.
“Recently I attended events for Pakistan, India and Afghanistan Independence Days. I also attended several Filipino events. It was wonderful to attend these occasions with so many friends. I chose to wear "traditional" clothes at many of these events.
“I was thanked a number of times for wearing Shalwar Kameez, thanked for wearing "Pakistani dress." I reminded them that, in Canada, Shalwar Kameez is also Canadian dress. It may be made in Pakistan, or India, or Afghanistan, but it is now Canadian. And that is the same for so many people in Thorncliffe Park: they may be made in Pakistan, or India, or Afghanistan, or Bangladesh, or the Philippines, or Latin America, but they are Canadian and need to live, grow up, and grow old happily in Canada. My job as the Member of Parliament for Don Valley West is to do everything in my power to make sure that happens.”
Like I always say, people are the best judge. They must use their rights and votes honestly, sensibly and in the best interest of the people and country. Before election, leaders pose as prophets and saints and after being elected they change colours and become strangers.
