DINNER, MUSICAL PROGRAM IN HONOUR
OF DR SHAHID HASHMI & SEEMA HASHMI

                TORONTO: Dr Ali Naqvi, an educationist, social and a literary personality, organized a dinner and musical evening in honour of Dr Shahid Hashmi, Chairman, Canpak Chamber of Commerce, and his spouse Seema Hashmi on  April  17, 2015, in Mississauga.
        Dr Shahid Hashmi, Nazimuddin Nazim and Dr Ali Naqvi spoke on the occasion and highlighted and praised the preparations made and proceedings of the centenary celebrations of Maulana Altaf Hussain Hali and Allama Muhammad Shibli Nomani organized in Toronto on March 29, 2015. Dr Shahid Hashmi, Seema Hashmi & family were praised and congratulated for organizing this and such events.
            Dr Shahid Hashmi paid rich tributes to his father for teaching him very good things including to fight against VIP culture, to always defend, support and promote human rights and respect, serve and promote humanity.
            Nazimuddin Nazim, an international award winning Pakistani director and documentary filmmaker, and Dr Shahid Hashmi praised Dr Ali Naqvi for brilliantly performing the role of Altaf Hussain Hali during the successful and memorable program.
            The audience included families and people of all ages, particularly youth, who mostly do not take much interest in such literary events but fully enjoyed this program. Prominent among participants were Moazzam Khan, Qasim, Hashim Reza Taqvi, Tariq Hussain and Dev Chakravorty.
            Dr Shahid Hashmi thanked Dr Ali Naqvi for hosting the dinner and musical program in his and Seema Hashmi honour. He presented appreciation awards to Dr Ali Naqvi, Dev Chakraborty and Moazzam Khan.
            The children of Dr Shahid Hashmi gave him a surprise presented him flower bouquet in praise of his love, care, efforts and successes. The musical program included film songs, flute, tabla and ghazals by Dr Ali Naqvi, Qasim, Seema Hashmi, Amir Ali and Dev Chakravorty. Dev is a renowned excellent tabla player and had performed for many leading film and music industry personalities and programs.    Moazzam Khan gave comedy presentation and made the audience laugh. The program which continued till midnight lasted for nearly five hours.
            Dr Ali Naqvi thanked the distinguished guests and participants for making the dinner and musical program lively, successful and memorable. He praised Dr Shahid Hashmi, Seema Hashmi and their family for serving the communities and building bridges.
            A gifted vocalist, Dr Ali Naqvi leads a bold and romantic life just like his songs. His amazing versatility and passion enables him to perform from Ghazal to old/new songs, all with ease which has made him one of the most sought-after vocalists for many musicians. He took his early music lessons from the classical maestro Ustad Nizamuddin Khan of Radio Pakistan and later nurtured his singing talent with the great music director Nisar Bazmi.  
            Dr Ali Naqvi pursued his double masters in economics & political science and further did his PhD in political science from University of Karachi. He also served as the Registrar of the University of Karachi.  He immigrated to Canada in 1997 and was one of few fortunate singers who became the disciple of legendary director Sohail Rana in Toronto.
            Apart from music, Dr Ali Naqvi has diversified his art form. He acted and produced several stage plays in Canada. Currently he is the director of Tamaseel entertainment a platform for stage dramas and musical programmes.
