CHOOSE GOOD PEOPLE & LEADERS

TORONTO: Fellows, time has come to create, in the best interest of the people and country, proper awareness, awakening and understanding to educate, train and prepare the people for the federal elections and protect them from all shrewd, corrupt, cruel and cunning people, leaders, policymakers, parties, groups, organizations and mafias.

It is our national, moral and religious duty and responsibility to love, respect, help, support, serve and protect all people and country, particularly the innocent, helpless, neglected, exploited, hated and discriminated ones. Our failure to do so would lead the people and country towards definite destruction. Hep maintain Canada as one of the best countries of the world and try to make it the best. Only through proper awareness, awakening, understanding and unity we can do this. We have to work together in order to live together with love and peace.

It is time to open our eyes and use our minds to understand and judge the right and wrong and good and bad. It is never difficult to differentiate between the good and bad and right and wrong. Take a pause and think seriously before taking any decision and action. Our decision, freedom and votes are the most precious things we have. For God’s sake don’t lose them.

Why sell ourselves so cheaply to become helpless and slaves of the shrewd, corrupt, crook and cunning leaders, parties, groups and mafias. Learn to help and protect ourselves first instead of deliberately becoming helpless and depending on others and getting fooled, cheated, exploited and harmed. Throughout my whole life I have been seeing this happen and people suffering terribly and their lives made miserable.

People are themselves responsible for the bad condition and situation of both the people and country. They choose to sell and make the lives of all hell. Our job is to keep reminding all and seeking their attention, help and support to check and stop all the wrong practices, policies and people. Everyone must play the important role and do whatever he can do to create proper awareness, awakening and understanding. This is extremely essential to bring positive changes and ensure progress, prosperity and stability of both the people and country.

Spread out and search for the good, right and true people and leaders. It is not difficult to recognize and find them. Such best people and leaders have these fine qualities---Good nature, character and contributions. They never sell themselves but devote their lives to live and die to serve and protect humanity. They believe in the golden principle---Respect, serve and protect humanity in reality. In this process of searching, we can also recognize and shun the people with bad nature, character and contributions. This makes our job damn easy.

People with bad nature, character and contributions are very shrewd and cunning. They belong to the mafias but pose as saints and good ones to trap, exploit, use & abuse and harm the people including the highly educated and sensible ones.

Such are their dirty minds, tricks, policies and brainwashing. They gain strong hold on the mind of the people and control them as robots. This is how they achieve their vested interests and make the lives of people miserable and hell. They are the mentors and protectors of mafia gangs, corrupts, crooks, criminals and terrorists.

The Muslim World is a glaring example of such victimization, terrible suffering, miseries and destruction. The glorious chapters of the Muslim World were written because of the best rulers and leaders of good nature, character and contributions.

After them, conspiracies were hatched to misguide, harm, hurt and destroy them. The conspirators created and trained Fake Mullahs, religious leaders and scholars with the task of creating confusion, misunderstandings, differences and divisions. Unfortunately, the conspirators succeeded in their sinister mission.

Today, the Muslims are divided, fighting with each other and killing each other senselessly. They have been brainwashed and made robots by the devils in disguise posing as Mullahs, Imams, religious leaders and scholars.

Today in the whole Muslim World there is no ruler or leader with the combined best qualities of good nature, character and contributions. This is why Muslims are suffering, being bashed and killed mercilessly. They are being treated as orphans and slaves and exploited, discriminated, hated, used and abused by almost everyone. Muslims are suffering because of their bad deeds but the blame is being put on Islam. This is a part of the game of conspiracy.

Muslims are paying a heavy price because of their own stupidity. The Muslim World badly needs a ruler and leaders who can help, support, serve and protect Muslims and all others in reality. It is never too late. Right persons, right decisions, right actions and contributions are the keys to the right solution, salvation and survival. We need to expose and shun the devils in disguise in all fields including community, religions and politics posing as good ones. This is how we can protect ourselves and others.

We must understand that spirituality and humanity are two sides of the same coin or like body and soul. If you separate the soul from the body then the body becomes dead, useless and dumped. We need to understand this delicate relationship and try to always remain normal, sensible and responsible. T

Then only we can like, love, respect, help and support each other and learn to live together. Then only we can courageously and with full confidence use our rights, freedom, decision and votes to choose and elect good people and true leaders with the best qualities of good nature, character and contributions. Then only we can help, support, serve and protect all people, country, community and humanity in reality.

Consider it as a sacred mission, unite and march forward to create proper awareness, awakening and understanding. Both the people and the nation need this spirit and action badly.

            TORONTO: The sensitive issue of Ontario’s new sex education curriculum is heating up very much and increasing the blood pressure and anger of the affected parents and people as it starts testing their religious, freedom, human rights, family, morality, responsibility, respectability, social, cultural and patience levels and tolerance.

            Parents and people are determined to fully protect their rights and freedom, under Canada’s Charter of Rights & Freedom, and keep using all the available peaceful and sensible options of rejecting and protesting against all such parties, leaders, policymakers and policies which are proving harmful and destructive for them and Canada.

            Peaceful protests are being held and parents kept their children away from schools for a week and could even keep away their children from such classes and schools indefinitely. Children are suffering the most but they fully understand the sensitivity and gravity of the issue and that’s why are willingly supporting the parents and people. They are sensing the dangers and consider it as extremely harmful and destructive.

            Chris Selley of daily ‘National Post’, published from Toronto, Canada, in his analysis titled ‘Muslim community taking the lead in latest round of Ontario sex-education protests’, published on May 5, 2015, highlighted the events and developments taking place against the ‘Harmful & Objectionable’ Ontario’s new sex education curriculum.

            Chris contacted me and chatted with me on this sensitive issue and carried my comments as follows: “Freelance journalist Javed Zaheer warns of the “total destruction” of his grandchildren’s generation.”

            As regards the chat with Chris Selley and my comment in his analysis, I would like to make my comment and point clear to remove the confusions and misunderstandings, if any, created.

            Nobody would have objected and protested if the Ontario’s new sex education curriculum had been purely educational and meant to create proper awareness and better understanding for the children of all ages, particularly appropriate and mature ages and mental levels so that they can grasp the necessary knowledge for safety and awareness and protect themselves from the harms, dangers, exploiters, pedophiles and criminals.

            Already, children are being taught about health including sex. On that too concerned parents and people objected only against the “Objectionable portions” being taught to children of inappropriate ages and against their religious, family, social and cultural values and principles. Most of them kept their children away from such classes on optional basis.

            Concerned parents and people say that the problem with the Ontario’s new sex education curriculum is that it is not only unethically crossing the limits and levels of maturity, morality, responsibility, respectability, values and principles but proving extremely destructive to the innocence, lives, and future of the children and new generation. It will open the doors for the evils, criminals and sex mafia to easily lure and hook the children to exploit, use and abuse them and produce a generation of rapists, predators and sinners. Their inappropriate ages, innocence and curiosity will increase their lust, make them irresponsible and sexually charged and definitely lead them to immorality and criminality.

            The concerned parents and people consider it as a conspiracy of a lobby and fear that the motive behind the new sex education curriculum is to promote immorality and support and promote all those involved in such practices. Once they become part of the system and society then the job would become easy and the innocent children could be easily hooked, lured, exploited and abused.

            The good, responsible and respectable parents, people and families of any community can never and will never allow this to happen. They will protect their children, families, cultures, values and principles at all cost.

            The sexuality process of erection, insertion and ejection are all but natural for all living beings and the new sex education curriculum would definitely increase their sexual and lustful levels and allow them to understand and test them. They simply cannot avoid it.

            Instead they would become Peeping Toms and keep a watchful eye on members of the family, friends and community including parents, siblings and others to watch or get a chance to practically do something.

            So what kind of a generation are we trying to create or produce? The day will not be far when a Grade-1 kid will ask his mother, sister, teacher or any other person: “Am I masturbating properly?” or “Hey, can you please measure my thickness and size?” or “Can you please teach me how to properly do and enjoy sex?” or “Mama or daddy I don’t need toys any more. I need condom and someone to practice and play?”

            I have four grandchildren and more kids in my family and friends circles. I shudder on even imagining about such a sex generation, happenings, situation and condition. This will definitely happen if we dangerously cross the limits and levels of maturity, morality, values and principles. Children and the future generations will lose their innocence, religion, family, responsibility and respect for all.

            The good human beings would turn into sex hunter and sex mafia gang member. Canada and all good, responsible and respectable Canadians just cannot afford and allow this to happen at any cost. All attempts to bring such policies and changes would be opposed and thwarted.

            As regards Ontario’s Premier Kathleen Wynne, she is MPP of my constituency Don Valley West and people mostly respected and voted for her and her party. She is a really very good and powerful leader and love mixing with the people of the area, listening and helping them. This is why I like and respect her too and hope that on this sensitive issue too she would meet the concerned parents, families and people, listen to them and try to find an acceptable and respectable solution.

            Failure to do so on any pretext or grounds would lead to clash with the people and crash of her Liberal Party. Now, people are definitely in no mood to be good with her or her Liberal Party. The new sex education curriculum would definitely affect her and her Liberal party’s position adversely. People are damn angry and determined not to choose or entertain any such party or leader who does not respect them, their religion, cultures, traditions, ethics, values and principles.

            The concerned members and leaders of the community including Shahid Hashmi, Chairman, Canpak Chamber of Commerce, Seema Hashmi, Syed Muhammad Iqbal, President of Pak Seniors Forum, Hashim Hyder, Tahir Hussain, Masoodul Haq gathered at the residence of Hameeduddin Ahmed, who had published and edited Toronto’s Urdu newspaper `AWAZ’, on May 6, 2015, in Pickering. The Ontario sex education curriculum was extensively and openly discussed and the majority members strongly criticised and condemned such a policy and considered its implementation as futile, disastrous and destructive.

            Syed Muhammad Iqbal, PSF President, termed the Ontario sex education curriculum as devastating and destructive. He highlighted the “objectionable parts” of the curriculum as follows:

1)      Proper names for body parts will be taught to students of Grade 1.

2)      Students of Grade 2 will learn about the broad concept of consent by being told that no means No.

3)      The curriculum positions sexual orientation as one of the potential qualities that distinguish people from one another.

4)      Now in Grade 4 discussion about puberty will be common and will move further to Grade 5 while education about intercourse will take place the following year

5)      In Grade 6, masturbation and gender expression will also be part of the curriculum. In Grades 7 and 8, contraception and oral sex preventing pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections will be taught and students will also learn about online bullying and the dangers of sharing sexually explicit images electronically.

            People are already burdened and fed up by the rapidly increasing prices of everything. It is becoming harder for them to meet the increasing expenses including family, rent and groceries. Their pockets are being emptied to meet the budget deficit caused by the wrong policies of incompetent leaders and parties with vested interests. The wrong policies and incompetent leadership is proving harmful for Canada and all Canadians. Instead of cutting their “Expenses”, the leaders are cutting the throats of the common people.

            It will definitely adversely affect the system, society, communities and families. A survey would reveal the facts and the prevailing situation and condition. Most people are fed up with elections, leaders and parties. .

            The prime minister, premiers, ministers, policymakers, bureaucrats and leaders of all levels and parties---federal, provincial and municipal---must focus on all such priority issues so that people could live, breathe and even die respectfully and peacefully.

            The increasing burden of rising expenses is becoming intolerable and making the lives of common people terrible and miserable. The need and urgency is to act fast before Canada and Canadians are harmed by the wrong policies and incompetent leadership at any levels. All communities and people must understand this and unite to practically help and support each other to protect Canada and Canadians and make them really safer, stronger and successful.

\           It is the duty and responsibility of the MP, MPP and Councillor to guide and help the people of their areas but recently one person came with a complaint that a staffer of MP of Don Valley West instead of helping him sent him a “Hurting email”. He was shocked and disappointed by that email and said: “Where should I go now and who will listen and help me?”

            Such attitude is narrowing the roads for success and power for both the Liberal and Conservative parties and giving advantage to the NDP. The elections are due in few months but the outcome could be predicted by the performance and attitude of the leaders, parties and their staff. People are this time more charged and aware of what is happening to them, Ontario and Canada because of the wrong, bad and incompetent leaders and policies.

Muslim community taking the lead in latest round of Ontario sex-education protests

TORONTO — Thorncliffe Park elementary school, in a predominantly Muslim area of Toronto, reported attendance on Monday of 130, according to the Toronto District School Board — 130 out of 1,350 students. That’s just nine per cent who showed up, though on Tuesday it had rebounded … all the way to 16 per cent.

At nearby Valley Park Middle School — best known for controversially hosting congregational Muslim prayers in its cafeteria on Fridays — Monday attendance was just 38 per cent.

Their parents are mad as hell about Ontario’s new sexual education curriculum, and they’re boycotting the entire curriculum, for up to a week, as a result.

Five years ago, when then-premier Dalton McGuinty abandoned much the same curriculum, conservative Christians were generally considered the culprits or heroes, depending on one’s standpoint. And they’re still on the warpath against the curriculum, which with a few tweaks is finally set to go into effect for the next school year.

But the school boycott is a multicultural affair, and the most stunning absenteeism numbers reportedly come from the Muslim community, which was not nearly so prominent in the 2010 debate.

Reports from a Monday protest in Thorncliffe Park suggest concerns range from the specific (introducing the notion of “gender fluidity,” too early or at all) to the conspiratorial (accusing the government of “indoctrinating children with a minority lifestyle”) to downright apocalyptic: freelance journalist Javed Zaheer warns of the “total destruction” of his grandchildren’s generation.

“There is a somewhat stronger current of what we might call family traditionalism among Muslims than among most other groups (although not more so than among evangelical Protestants),” says David Rayside, a professor of political science at the University of Toronto, “especially around sexuality and sexual diversity.”

But in the main, their complaints are similar to those of other social conservatives. And that’s hardly surprising, as Rayside says: “The vast majority of Canadian Muslims are first generation, and they come from very traditional parts of the world.”

For policymakers, the sex-ed fracas is a conundrum. Ontarians can peruse the curriculum with the click of a mouse. Many have, and have formed reasonable complaints: Gregory Moore of Amherstburg, Ont., wonders why he’s enrolling his kids in Catholic school if they’re going to be taught, in Grade 6, that masturbation “is common and is not harmful and is one way of learning about your body.” (Ontario’s bishops support the curriculum, arguing they’ll teach it “through a Catholic lens.” That’ll be some feat.)

“Some families do not believe it’s a good thing for an 11-year-old to carry a condom around in his pocket just in case,” says Moore. “I’m one of those parents.” (In Grade 8, the curriculum suggests “using condoms consistently if and when a person becomes sexually active.” Still.)

Yet many of the most fearsome criticisms bear little relation to the document itself. It supposedly indoctrinates students in the homosexual lifestyle … by explaining to Grade 3 students that some people “have two mothers or two fathers.” It supposedly promotes anal sex … by explaining to Grade 7 students that “engaging in sexual activities like oral sex, vaginal intercourse, and anal intercourse means that you can be infected with an STI.” It “puts pressure on (Grade 8) kids to become sexually active,” per the Campaign Life Coalition, by encouraging them “to get information from a credible source before making a decision about being sexually active.”

A document in Arabic reportedly being distributed in Peel Region, west of Toronto, claims children in Grade 1 “will learn to reveal their private parts.” With a world of information at our fingertips, misinformation remains alarmingly powerful.

For Canadian Muslims, however, it could be an interesting moment.

White Christian so-cons haven’t accomplished much in politics in recent years, after all: Prince Edward Island still doesn’t offer abortions, and that’s about it, really. Muslims aren’t a huge community in Canada, and of course they are not monolithically conservative. But the broader movement can use any help it can get.

“It would be interesting if this is the start of significant domestic political mobilization for the Muslim community,” says University of Regina politics professor Jim Farney, who studies the role of religion in Canadian politics. They have long had a voice on the Middle East, he notes, but little else.

Muslims may be marginalized and occasionally demonized in Canada — but as they previously demonstrated during the “mosqueteria” controversy, those in Thorncliffe Park are perfectly comfortable defending their rights.

It’s also quite possible the issue will fizzle, of course. Rayside suspects things will die down once school gets down to business in the fall.

But Zaheer and other opponents vow to return in force then. Moore, likewise, says he intends to keep badgering teachers, administrators and politicians in search of redress.

And if he doesn’t get it by September?

“We are so undecided,” he says. “We don’t know what we’re going to do.”

TORONTO: Dr Ali Naqvi, an educationist, social and a literary personality, organized a dinner and musical evening in honour of Dr Shahid Hashmi, Chairman, Canpak Chamber of Commerce, and his spouse Seema Hashmi on April 17, 2015, in Mississauga.

Dr Shahid Hashmi, Nazimuddin Nazim and Dr Ali Naqvi spoke on the occasion and highlighted and praised the preparations made and proceedings of the centenary celebrations of Maulana Altaf Hussain Hali and Allama Muhammad Shibli Nomani organized in Toronto on March 29, 2015. Dr Shahid Hashmi, Seema Hashmi & family were praised and congratulated for organizing this and such events.

Dr Shahid Hashmi paid rich tributes to his father for teaching him very good things including to fight against VIP culture, to always defend, support and promote human rights and respect, serve and promote humanity.

Nazimuddin Nazim, an international award winning Pakistani director and documentary filmmaker, and Dr Shahid Hashmi praised Dr Ali Naqvi for brilliantly performing the role of Altaf Hussain Hali during the successful and memorable program.

The audience included families and people of all ages, particularly youth, who mostly do not take much interest in such literary events but fully enjoyed this program. Prominent among participants were Moazzam Khan, Qasim, Hashim Reza Taqvi, Tariq Hussain and Dev Chakravorty.

Dr Shahid Hashmi thanked Dr Ali Naqvi for hosting the dinner and musical program in his and Seema Hashmi honour. He presented appreciation awards to Dr Ali Naqvi, Dev Chakraborty and Moazzam Khan.

The children of Dr Shahid Hashmi gave him a surprise presented him flower bouquet in praise of his love, care, efforts and successes. The musical program included film songs, flute, tabla and ghazals by Dr Ali Naqvi, Qasim, Seema Hashmi, Amir Ali and Dev Chakravorty. Dev is a renowned excellent tabla player and had performed for many leading film and music industry personalities and programs. Moazzam Khan gave comedy presentation and made the audience laugh. The program which continued till midnight lasted for nearly five hours.

Dr Ali Naqvi thanked the distinguished guests and participants for making the dinner and musical program lively, successful and memorable. He praised Dr Shahid Hashmi, Seema Hashmi and their family for serving the communities and building bridges.

A gifted vocalist, Dr Ali Naqvi leads a bold and romantic life just like his songs. His amazing versatility and passion enables him to perform from Ghazal to old/new songs, all with ease which has made him one of the most sought-after vocalists for many musicians. He took his early music lessons from the classical maestro Ustad Nizamuddin Khan of Radio Pakistan and later nurtured his singing talent with the great music director Nisar Bazmi.

Dr Ali Naqvi pursued his double masters in economics & political science and further did his PhD in political science from University of Karachi. He also served as the Registrar of the University of Karachi. He immigrated to Canada in 1997 and was one of few fortunate singers who became the disciple of legendary director Sohail Rana in Toronto.

Apart from music, Dr Ali Naqvi has diversified his art form. He acted and produced several stage plays in Canada. Currently he is the director of Tamaseel entertainment a platform for stage dramas and musical programmes.

CENTENARY OF TWO LEGENDS, TRUE LEADERS:

ALTAF HUSSAIN HALI & SHIBLI NOMANI

TORONTO: Good and great people are one of the best blessings of God. Their personality, character, qualities, abilities, vision, struggle, works and contributions in any form all combine to help, guide and lead mankind. They devote their lives, time and energy for right causes and purposes. This makes them legendary and an important part of history and our lives.

Those who forget or ignore them remain lost in the pitch of darkness and keep suffering. It is their goodness and greatness which helps end the darkness and shows the right path, direction and destination.

Just like every drop of blood and medicine gives a dying man new life, the stroke of a pen takes or saves a life, the tongue heals or breaks the heart the same way even the smallest contribution in any form which helps communities and humanity in general as experience, inspiration and motivation becomes extremely precious, priceless and tremendous. All benefit from them but the people with vision take full advantage to serve humanity in reality.

Even most parts of all the holy books mention about great and good people, their contributions and how God pays tributes to them and asks us to understand, remember and follow them. These are presented as examples for us to learn and understand.

So it is pointless and senseless to say that remembering, respecting and following them after century or less or more is useless. Even after millions of years, we are told and reminded by God Himself to understand, remember, respect and follow the prophets, saints, angels and all good ones till the doomsday.

TRAGIC: Unfortunately, most people, despite best efforts to help and guide them, fail to understand or deliberately avoid understanding and accepting this logic, fact and reality. They have made such cultures, traditions and values part of their lives and religion, which have nothing to do with religions and against which God has warned them repeatedly through messengers and books. The negative and wrong thinking, approach, direction and have made their lives miserable and pushing them towards destruction and hell.

Again, unfortunately Muslims particularly are easily provoked, excited and trapped. Without thinking about the consequences or heeding to the strict warnings they simply jump into the trap and as a result keep suffering and dying. Instead of acting on the principle “Think before you leap”, they do vice versa and “Think after they leap” by shouting Allah-O-Akbar. By this way they think they are making God very happy and would get the best place in paradise.

Cite the example of any prophet or saint who senselessly and blindly jumped from the mountain or into the fire or into the sea. They all lived and acted wisely and sensibly but today’s Muslims love committing stupidity with the intention and impression of pleasing God. Instead of getting place in paradise, such approach, attitude and actions will only land them in hell.

Hypocrites and exploiters take full advantage of wrong thinking, approach and attitudes of such Muslims. Most of the innocent Muslims fail to understand the vested interests and cunningness of the hypocrites and criminals behind the innocent looking faces with fake smiles and crocodile tears and are tricked and trapped. Hypocrites are criminals and sincere to none. They can only exploit, cheat and cause harm.

IMPORTANCE: So in the light of above, it is important to keep understanding, remembering, respecting and following the good people and true leaders, who emerge as greats and legends. They are indeed the best blessings of God.

Such is the importance of great and good ones. The sole purpose is to benefit from their contributions. The glorious past always serves as a mirror for bright future. Let’s get direction, vision and strength from our glorious past and pledge to always SERVE HUMANITY IN REALITY.

Maulana Altaf Hussain Hali (1837-1914) and Allama Muhammad Shibli Nomani (1857-1914) are two such great personalities and leaders with tremendous contributions based on vision and direction to help, guide and lead the people. That spirit, efforts and actions were badly needed by the people living in occupation and slavery to boost their morale and keep them alive and on the right track. It was indeed a great task.

CELEBRATION: In order to pay tributes and benefit from their services, contributions and vision, the Canpak Chamber of Commerce and the Consulate General of Pakistan commemorated the centenary of the two giants of Urdu literature---Maulana Altaf Hussain Hali and Allama Muhammad Shibli Nomani (1914-2014)---on Sunday, March 29, 2015, at the auditorium of the Aga Khan Museum, 77 Wynford Drive, Toronto, Ontario. It was a well-attended select gathering of renowned scholars, writers, poets, distinguished personalities and their families.

The program was produced and directed by International Award Winning Producer Nazimuddin Nazim of Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) and was divided into three portions: Act One, Act Two & Act Three.

ACT ONE: Opening remarks, Dua (Prayers) of Altaf Hussain Hali, Recitation of Holy Quran and national anthems of Canada and Pakistan. Zubairuddin, renowned newscaster and figure of PTV, acted as host and presented introduction of the program.

Dr Shahid Hashmi, Chairman, Canpak Chamber of Commerce, presented the welcome address. He asked the audience to observe thirty seconds silence in remembrance of late Maqsood Khan, Councillor of Oakville, and for all those killed in attacks on churches, other religious places, Army School in Peshawar, Pakistan, and in terrorism acts elsewhere.

He highlighted and praised the sincere efforts and tremendous contributions of team leaders and sponsors with special thanks to including Asghar Ali Golo, Consul General of Pakistan, Feroz Jessani, Nazimuddin Nazim, Hashim Reza Taqvi, Roshan Khayal, Zubairuddin, Hasham Hyder, Rabah Anum, Sarah Anjum, Nadia Hussain, Dr Ali Naqvi, Moazzam Khan, Dhruv Gulati and most importantly the team support of family---Seema Hashmi, Saman Hashmi, Sohabe Hashmi, Savera Hashmi, Shakaib Hashmi and Sidra Hashmi.

He said: “We are dedicated to building bridges between individuals, communities, business and government which are a profound necessity in today’s world.”

The distinguished speakers were: Professor Iqbal Haider (Dallas), Aftab Rizvi (Presented special article: Hali, Shibli Aur Hum), Dr Syed Taghi Abedi and Asghar Ali Golo, Consul General of Pakistan. Piano composition played by Sidra Hashmi. Introduction by Muhammad Yaseen.

Asghar Ali Golo, Consul General of Pakistan, said in his message: “This event is an occasion to pay tribute to great leaders and reformers who withstood all adversities and remained steadfast in their mission. Their perseverance and determination played a vital role in the independence movement by virtue of which Muslims are enjoying fullest spiritual, cultural, economic and political life in the way that they thought best and in consonance with their own ideas. Both great luminaries---Maulana Altaf Hussain Hali and Allama Muhammad Shibli Nomani---were remarkable leaders and played a significant role towards the renaissance of Muslims.”

Dr Syed Taghi Abedi, in his message, said: “Maulana Hali was an Urdu poet and a great social reformer of Indian Subcontinent. He was the famous pupil of Ghalib and a close friend of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, the founder of the Aligarh University. At the request of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, Hali wrote the famous poem “Mussadus-e-Hali’, which deals with the rise and fall of the Indian Subcontinent Muslims.”

He said: “Apart from his status as a pioneer in the modern Urdu literature, he devoted his poetry to advance the cause, social welfare and betterment of human values. He was the first reformer who focused humanitarian aims and women’s right.”

Dr Taghi said: “In his book ‘Majalis-i-Nisan’, Hali emphasizes the need of educating women. In his book ‘Bewa Ki Munajat’, he focused on the plight of widows in sub-continent society. He also purified the poetic thoughts and therefore it is widely believed that if he was not born or had not spread the tune of his poetry, Allama Iqbal’s work may not be produced.”

Dr Abedi said:” Allama Shibli Nomani was the youngest member of Sir SyedAhmed Khan’s team. He was also an educationist, a reformer, a historian, a biographer, poet and a social worker. He wrote many authentic and important books. ‘Shirul Ajum’, an anthology of Persian poetry, and ‘Siratul Nabi’ were very popular among the Sub-continent Muslims.”

He said: “Both Maulana Hali and Allama Shibli worked for mankind and their teachings are essential in our 21^st century day to day lives as they are beacon lights in the storm sea of human beings.”

Aftab Rizvi, in his message, said: “Legendary scholars like Maulana Altaf Hussain Hali and Allama Shibli Nomani must always be remembered because they are our heritage, pride and golden past. Future of learned nations are connected with their past and they take pride in considering their present as link between these two eras. No nation in the world can survive gracefully if disconnected with legends of the past era. These legends gave their time and devoted their lives to the cause of literature, poetry and critical writings.”

He said: “In today’s materialistic society, where success and wealth are only measured with balance in the bank, it is hard to understand work of those who stood from poverty, worked hard, made their name in history and paved way to live and be remembered forever.”

ACT TWO: Roshan Khayal, son of internationally recognized renowned poet and intellectual Himayat Ali Shair, acted as the host in the second part of the program. Biography of Hali and Shibli was presented. The narration was by Sarah Anjum and Anum Rabah, supported by spectacle, tableau, and power point presentation.

The next item was Colours of One Ghazal, which included Zahoor-e-Qudsi---Hai Justuju K Khoob Se Hai Khoob Kahan, the masterpiece writing of Shibli, and a Ghazal (Koee Mahram Nahin Milta Jahan Main). The vocalist was Nadia Tariq. It was composed by Dr Ali Naqvi. The players were: Keyboard (Naveed Akhtar), Tabla (Nitin) and guitar (Ali).

Next was ‘Mussadus-e-Hali’, a documentary and visual presentation produced by Nazimuddin Nazim with background voice (Talat Hussain) and Naat recitation (Junaid Jamshed).

Next was ‘Live dialogue with Hali and Shibli’. The interviewer was Nazimuddin Nazim and acts by Dr Ali Naqvi and Moazzam Khan.

Legendary music maestro Sohail Rana presented the Urdu translation of Canadian National Anthem.

The Act Two concluded with Dr Shahid Hashmi’s presentation of vote of thanks.

Refreshment was served to the audience.

ACT THREE: Hashim Reza Taqvi acted as the host in Act Three. The chief guest was Asghar Ali Golo, Consul General of Pakistan in Toronto. Dr Syed Taghi Abedi presided. Sidra Hashmi presented English poetry. Tarahe Mushaira was organized in the Act Three.

Also included was poetry `The Tenant’ by Sidra Hashmi (Grade 12 student), which was written at age 16 and published (Page 84) in the Young Writers of Canada: Memories Never Lost. Sidra’s message to the world is that life is so precious but she sees that life is being wasted and innocent people are being killed.

Impressive pictures and works of Maulana Altaf Hussain Hali and Allama Shibli Nomani were also included in the souvenir.

In all the messages, Dr Shahid Hashmi, Seema Hashmi, Asghar Ali Golo, Consul General of Pakistan, and the team leaders involved including Nazimuddin Nazim, Roshan Khayal, Hashim Reza Taqvi and Zubairuddin in making the event successful and memorable were highly praised for their efforts, roles and contributions.

SHIBLI NOMANI: Following is the brief life sketch of Allama Muhammad Shibli Nomani: Born on June 4, 1857, in Bindawal Azamgarh (UP). Passed away on November 18,1914, in Azamgarh (UP). Father: Shaikh Habibullah. Mother: Moqeema Khatoon. (d/o Qurban Ahmad, Phariha Azamgarh). Wife: Majidunnisa (Married 1876-77). Brothers: Mahdi Hasan, Mohammad Ishaq and Mohammad Junaid.

Children: Hamid Hassan Nomani, Rabia Khatoon , Jannutul Fatima. Teachers: Maulana Farooq Chirayyakuti, Chirayyakot, Azamgarh, Maulana Irshad Husain, Rampur, Maulana Faizul Hasan Saharanpuri, Lahore, and Maulana Ahmad Ali Saharanpuri

After Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, Allama Mohammad Shibli Nomani is considered as one of the tallest figures among the Muslims of Indian subcontinent who died at an age of 57 but his academic and social work put him way above to people who were far senior and elder to him. He founded the Shibli National Post Graduate College in 1883.

His other venture was Darul Musannefin Shibli Academy, which did a wonderful job in realizing the dreams of its founder. Allama Shibli Nomani had a versatile personality but is mostly known for his academic work. People of academia are expected to work on other dimensions of his personality and give him his deserving stature of a reformer rather than just academician and theologian.

ALTAF HUSSAIN HALI: Altaf Hussain Hali was one of the founders of Urdu criticism. He was an outstanding pre-modern poet and famous for writing Yaadgar-e-Ghalib, the first biography of Mirza Ghalib. Altaf Hussain Hali was the last disciple of Ghalib. He is also one of the most highly esteemed biographers of Ghalib's life and a commentator of his poetry.

Hali holds a distinguished position in the history of Urdu literature. He was a shayar (Poet), a critic, an educator, an activist and a commendable prose-writer. He was born in Panipat (Haryana) in 1837 and later migrated to Delhi to pursue higher studies in Indo-Islamic poetic tradition. During this period, he happened to interact with Mirza Ghalib. This meeting ignited within him a passion for poetry. Ghalib was his philosopher and guide in Urdu shayari (Poetry).

After working at Lahore Book depot for four years, he joined the Anglo Arabic School in Delhi in the capacity of a teacher. During this period he got acquainted with Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and also wrote “Musaddas-e-Jazar-o-Islam”, which is one of the paramount books in the history of Urdu poetry. The Musaddas, or Musaddas-e-Hali, as it is often known, was published in 1879 and was widely acclaimed. It was considered to herald the modern age of Urdu poetry.

In 1887, Hyderabad State fixed a monthly pension for Hali as a mark of acknowledgement and honour for his contribution to Urdu sher-o-shayari. The British government bestowed upon him the title “Shams-ul-Ulema”. As a poet, he did not set limits for himself within the narrow bounds of Ghazal, but successfully ventured into other poetic forms such as Nazm, Rubai and elegy.

His widely-lauded lengthy poem, Musaddas-e-Hali, focuses on the state of community and moral degradation prevalent in the contemporary Muslim society. He also wrote extraordinary biographies of Ghalib, Saadi Sheerazi and Sir Sayed Ahmed Khan. Hali’s interests were broad-spectrum and his literary abilities were commensurate with his philanthropic aspirations. Hali died in the year 1914 at Panipat.
