DON’T LET OTHERS RUIN YOUR FUTURE,
     LIFE: CHOOSE ONLY GOOD PEOPLE
BY JAVED ZAHEER, FREEEXPRESSION AWARD WINNER
TORONTO: People look towards the political parties, leaders and workers with much hope and great expectations but mostly face terrible disappointment on being fooled and cheated. Yes, fooled and cheated.  They either fail to understand or ignore the fact that most political parties and their cronies all do, dupe and die for their vested interests and to serve the same masters or corporations. They are two faces of the same coin.
The dirty game of hypocrisy is played in the name of democracy and peace. People are the only losers. Their sufferings and frustration keeps increasing. Every budget acts as a sharp knife on the throat of the people, ready to cut slowly and painfully. Blame game is played to keep confusing and fooling the people and to find excuses to raise prices and taxes.
Such political parties, their leaders and cronies stop fearing accountability or punishment. This makes them both cunning and cruel. They think that only the rich ones have the right to contest elections and rule the people.  They suggest framing of such draconian laws and conditions so that commoners would not dare to raise his head or afford to think of joining the leadership race. They start considering people as their servants and slaves.
In order to face such challenges, people need to change themselves and stop fearing and being fooled by the bad parties and leaders. They must fear but the one whom they should i.e. God only and choose, select, elect and promote only good people and true leaders.
Those who never fear anyone or anything become cunning, cruel and cold-blooded. It is the fear which controls us, corrects us, makes us brave and helps protect us from sin, crimes and cruelty. The fear of being seen, caught and punished keeps us on track.
There is a vast difference between the fear of tyrants and fear of God. Tyrants make us helpless, slave and robot. They act as god and keep the remote in their hands and play with our lives. God gives us the freedom to live, think and act properly and makes us good human beings. He commands us to fight only to protect right, rights and humanity and not to just control or kill.
I too used to think that when God likes and loves us the most then why we are asked to fear Him. Why always remain scared and in terror and not like and focus only on His love? This generated bad imagination about Him as Cruel and Unjust. I was wrong. Yes, totally wrong.
There are many others including of all religions who keep thinking, imagining and propagating that God is Cruel & Unjust. Thanks God I was never one of them. I did lack the proper knowledge and understanding of why we should fear God and remained confused and kept arguing with those saying and warning us to fear Him.
It is the FEAR which helps us know Him, bow before Him, worship, like, love and remain close to Him in the real sense. It is the fear which makes us good human beings and gives us the knowledge and understanding that God is good and not Cruel & Unjust. It is His Wrath and Punishment due to anger and not cruelty for those who are cunning, cruel, tyrants, terrorists and hardened criminals but God can never be UNJUST. NEVER EVER.
Those who start fearing God start to like and love good, become loving, caring respectful and ultimately good and pure. Those who truly fear God become pious and true believers. The Divine Messages in the original holy books including Bible, Torah and Quran are common in this connection and point towards the following ways of life in order to have a perfect lifestyle, good character and God with us---1) Patience or self-restraint or steadfastness (Sabar) 2)Thankfulness (Shukar) 3) Praise (Zikr) and 4)Thinking (Fikr). This is the combination that holds the key to success. Let’s see what the Holy Book (Quran) says in some chapters (Suras):
Chapter (Sura) #2 Al-Baqara (Madina): Verse 45: “Seek help in patience and prayer; and truly it is hard save for the humble-minded.” Translation: Eng-Pickthal-Audio.

Chapter (Sura) # 14 Ibrahim (Makka): Verse 1: “Alif. Lam. Ra. (This is) a Scripture which We have revealed unto thee (Muhammad) that thereby thou mayst bring forth mankind from darkness unto light, by the permission of their Lord, unto the path of the Mighty, the Owner of Praise.” Translation: Eng-Pickthal-Audio
Chapter (Sura) # 14 Ibrahim (Makka): Verse 5: “We verily sent Moses with Our revelations, saying: Bring thy people forth from darkness unto light. And remind them of the days of Allah. Lo! therein are revelations for each steadfast, thankful (heart). Translation: Eng-Pickthal-Audio.
Chapter (Sura) # 14 Ibrahim (Makka): Verse 8: “And Moses said: Though ye and all who are in the earth prove thankless, lo! Allah verily is Absolute, Owner of Praise.” Translation: Eng-Pickthal-Audio
Chapter (Sura) #14 Ibrahim (Makka): Verse 37: “Our Lord! Lo! I have settled some of my posterity in an uncultivable valley near unto Thy holy House, our Lord! that they may establish proper worship; so incline some hearts of men that they may yearn toward them, and provide Thou them with fruits in order that they may be thankful. Translation: Eng-Pickthal-Audio.
Chapter (Sura) # 14 Ibrahim (Makka): Verse 39: “Praise be to Allah Who hath given me, in my old age, Ishmael and Isaac! Lo! my Lord is indeed the Hearer of Prayer.” Translation: Eng-Pickthal-Audio.
Chapter (Sura) # 41 Fussilat (Makka): Verse 35: “And no one will be granted such goodness except those who exercise patience and self-restraint none but persons of the greatest good fortune.” Translation: Eng-Yusuf Ali.
Chapter (Sura) # 50 Qaf (Makka): Verse 39: “Bear, then, with, patience all that they say and celebrate the praises of thy Lord, before the rising of the sun and before (its) setting.”
Translation: Eng-Yusuf Ali.
Chapter (Sura) # 83 Al-Mutaffifin (Makka): Verse 4: “Do they not think that they will be called to account? Translation: Eng-Yusuf Ali.
Chapter (Sura) # 89 Al-Fajr (Makka):Verse 5: “There surely is an oath for thinking man.” Translation: Eng-Pickthal-Audio.
Chapter (Sura) # 90 Al-Balad (Makka): Verse 5: “Does he think that none can overcome him? Translation: Eng-Dr. Mohsin.
Chapter (Sura) # 90 Al-Balad (Makka): Verse 7: “Does he think that none sees him?
Translation: Eng-Dr. Mohsin
Chapter (Sura) # 103 Al-Asr (Makka): Verses 1-3: “By the declining day, (1) Lo! man is a state of loss, (2) Save those who believe and do good works, and exhort one another to truth and exhort one another to endurance.(3)” Translation: Eng-Pickthal-Audio.
So let’s pledge to choose only the right people for our bright future. We must never allow the bad ones to play with our future or lives and harm the country in anyway. We must never allow any bad ones to make Canada a poodle or puppet of any big or small country or their leaders. Every community must think the same way about their country of origin and people as well.  I can never leave Pakistan and Pakistanis alone and would continue to act as their voice and strength. All communities must live and work together for the common cause.
