WHY VISITORS SAY CANADIANS
ARE GOOD HUMANS & MUSLIMS
BY JAVED ZAHEER, FREE EXPRESSION AWARD WINNER
TORONTO:  Impressed by the tremendous fireworks and celebrations of Canada’s 147th Independence Day on July 1, 2014, a child visitor from a Muslim country was heard asking innocently a Canadian spectator: “Sir, Canada is not a Muslim country right?” The Canadian spectator asked “Why? What made you think like that son?”
The Muslim child visitor said: “I have found during my few days stay here that Canada is a wonderful country and the people are simply great, very nice, loving, caring, generous, helpful, supportive and cooperative. The way they honestly and sincerely respect, help and support each other and others, the values, laws, traditions, cultures and the way they live and work together, love, care and share all prove that they are really good human beings and good Muslims. In fact they are better Muslims and human beings than us Muslims, who are disappointing God because of their bad deeds---failure to shoulder responsibilities and perform properly the assigned duties.
The child said: “This is what Allah (God) commands and demands all to do and Islam teaches us through Divine Messages and good people. Indeed, this is the universal message of Islam for humanity and to make all people good human beings, supporters, promoters, protectors and defenders of good and truth and true believers of God.
The Muslim child stated: “With such amazing goodness and greatness of Canadians, I am really surprised that Canada is not a declared Muslim State? I have started loving Canada and Canadians and wish to come again and again. The beauty and wonders of Canada and the goodness and greatness of people are really charismatic and leave a tremendous impact and lasting impression.
Suddenly the Muslim child visitor became very serious and sad and said: “I sincerely wish and honestly pray that the Muslim countries and the people living there---Muslims and all---would learn and become like that and get rid of all the corrupt ones and mafias, particularly the political and religion mafia. We badly need such good people and leaders to help, protect and save us from crooks, terrorists and human beasts.”
This happened in 2014. Way back in 1999, when I moved to Canada with my family from Pakistan for better quality of life and bright future of the children, I too heard praises of wonders and beauty of Canada and goodness and greatness of Canadians.
In the early 2000s, I was sitting in the main mosque (Darus Salam) in the Thorncliffe Park Drive locality in Toronto, which enjoys the worldwide reputation as ‘Islamic Republic of Thorncliffe’ because of the large Muslim population. Now there are many places to pray (Musallas) in the buildings as well in this locality and other nearby localities, which remain full in all seasons including the extremely harsh and cold winter season.
It was Friday and the Guest Imam (Friday Prayer leader), who was a distinguished religious scholar and leader of South Asia and visiting Canada on special invitation during the month of Ramazan, was delivering the Jumatul Wida (Last Friday of Ramazan) Sermon. Suddenly he became very excited and emotional and with tears of happiness in his eyes said seriously “The Canadians are, unknowingly or knowingly, obeying Allah (God) in many ways by implementing and following the divine messages and what Islam teaches and that’s why they are so nice, good and great human beings. They are almost perfect and better Muslims and all they need to do to become true Muslims is to just recite the Kalima. May be some day, with great blessings of the God, this will happen.”
On July 1, 2014, while I was watching Canada Day programs on TV, I saw a news slide on CP24. It was a highlight of the message of His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada. He asked Canadians to take it as a challenge to become and remain good and exhort others to do good and become good.
Only a day before, I had prepared and circulated my exclusive article titled “Are We Practically Normal, Sensible & Composed” (To read the article and other articles, visit my blog: www.javedzaheernews.blogspot.ca).  For this article, I took help from Divine Message of the Holy Quran in order to explain the importance of Ramazan, fasting, goodness and what Allah (God) and humanity cause, aim and objectives want human beings to do.
The message of the Governor General matched what the Divine Message said over 1400 years ago in the Holy Quran and it must definitely be present and explained in other original holy books as well including the Bible and Torah because all the original holy books belong to only one and the same author---Allah (The God).
God has said in the Holy Quran (Chapter 103. Verses 1-3): “By the declining day, (1) Lo! man is a state of loss, (2) Save those who believe and do good works, and exhort one another to truth and exhort one another to endurance. (3).
This show the best character and great personality of the Governor General David Johnston. He may be not but his heart is a Muslim and this shows how God has taught us how to remain “Practically normal, sensible & composed” to become a good person, a good human being, a perfect Muslim and a true believer.
Good, normal, sensible and composed people and leaders know and understand the difference between good and bad, legal and illegal and right and wrong. Their conscience and good character will NEVER EVER allow them on ANY PRETEXT or REASON to accept, support and promote AT ANY COST the bad, illegal and wrong for policies, system, society, communities, people and country.  This is because they know their duties and responsibilities and respect people and their wishes, principles, values and laws They cannot and will hopefully WILL NOT betray and cheat the people.
The important big question most people keep asking is “When Canadians are really so good people and human beings” then how some shameful, cursed and condemned illegal and harmful ideas, suggestions, proposals, activities and policies are supported, defended, promoted, accepted and made part of the laws, policies, society and system.
Who are those who favour, support and follow them? Are they more powerful than God and good? Why the good people and leaders fail to counter and stop then and save the people and country from the harm? There should be an answer for the WHY.
Who is actually answerable, responsible and accountable for the bad and wrong policies and bad and illegal activities? Even if they have been made policies and laws by any ways then can’t they be revoked and replaced with the right and good ones in the best interest of the people and the country?
Can the Governor General as a man of best character, integrity and conscience do something and help Canadians in this connection?  Can he? For finding yes or no answer, visit http://www.gg.ca/events.aspx?sc=1&lan=eng.
It may be pointed out that  “One of the governor general’s most important responsibilities is to ensure that Canada always has a prime minister and a government in place that has the confidence of Parliament. In addition, the governor general holds certain reserve powers, which are exercised at his or her own discretion. The governor general also presides over the swearing-in of the prime minister, the chief justice of Canada and cabinet ministers. It is the governor general who summons, prorogues and dissolves Parliament, who delivers the Speech from the Throne, and who gives Royal Assent to acts of Parliament. The governor general signs official documents and regularly meets with the prime minister.”
The prime minister, parliament and senate and all others concerned including the Queen’s representatives and premiers too must sincerely and honestly review all policies and laws and reverse and revoke all the bad and wrong ones. This is the duty and responsibility of all and no one is above the law. The rights and freedom of Canadians must always be respected. Canadians are good people and they can never accept or support bad or wrong or illegal ideas, acts and policies. Bad leaders and policy makers are responsible for such policies and acts.
For those Muslims who think they are trying to “SAVE ISLAM” and saying there will be no Islam without them, let’s remove their misunderstanding and confusion by the fact that it is Islam which has come to stay and SAVE THEM.  How can they think of saving Islam? So don’t worry about Islam. Nothing will happen to Islam. Yes, if these people don’t change their thinking and attitude then they will lose a lot, suffer a lot and will be harmed and doomed. Learn something from good persons of all communities in order to become good human being.
Ever since my arrival in Canada, I was fortunate to have met mostly good people of all communities. Since 1999 till 2014, I have seen them struggling and working hard for survival and success. Their families have successfully adjusted themselves and children have graduated and doing good jobs or are nearing graduation. The third or next generations children are mostly born Canadians and have a completely different thinking, attitude and world.
Whenever I mention about my stay and success in Canada, I will always mention about renowned and distinguished member of the community Shahid Hashmi, Chairman, Canpak Chamber of Commerce, who became my family friend and introduced me to the people. He keeps helping and supporting others in such ways. His family fully supports him in this social and humanity service.
In order to practically bring people and communities closer and serve humanity in reality, Pak Seniors Forum (PSF), a registered organization, was formed and launched last year. It is one year old now and during this period successfully connected people and communities with each other, collaborated with various reputed and recognized organizations including Better Living and CASSA, held meetings with VIPs and became a powerful platform and voice for all. Within a year, it gained worldwide popularity and recognition. It is internationally famous now with renowned figures world over supporting it and desirous of becoming active members.
The Pak Seniors Forum (PSF) is led by Syed Muhammad Iqbal, President. The team of active members and supporters are mostly like-minded people, who have a sound family and success background, are still very active and fully prepared to serve people.
The team leaders and supporters are in large numbers and include Shahid Hashmi, Javed Zaheer, Afzal Khan Nayyar, Dr Tariq Mirza, DSP Tariq Malik, Nooruddin Mirza, Syed Sadruddin, Mohammad Iqbal, Masood Baig, Abdur Razzak Chishti, Noorain Fazli, Khalid Ahmed, Hameeduddin Ahmed, Tahir Hussain and Hashim
They are all highly educated people and doing their best to contribute tremendously for the community, people and country, particularly Shahid Hashmi as Chairman of Canpak Chamber of Commerce and as reputed and recognized Community Leader.
The team leaders and supporters join all in congratulating Canadians and all people on Canada’s 147th Independence Day. And Yes, they are all getting ready and prepared for the 150th  Independence Day celebrations three years later in a tremendous and memorable manner.
